Mena Alexa Suvari, born 1979. She is an American model, fashion designer and actor. Following a brief time as a model for fashion before moving into acting when she appeared as guest stars on TV shows like Boy Meets World in the 1990s and High Incident. The film debut came with the show Nowhere which was which was released in 1997. Her roles on the film American Beauty, for which she was awarded a BAFTA Award nomination and American Pie attracted a lot of attention. Following that, she starred as the protagonist in Sugar & Spice (2000) with American Pie star Jason Biggs. The year 2002 saw her starred in Spun the drama that was made by an independent studio and 2004's thriller Trauma. Other appearances on HBO include the series Six Feet Under. In 2008, she was cast in a string of films which included Day of the Dead The Mysteries of Pittsburgh and the adaptation film of The Garden of Eden. Suvari has appeared in many fashion blogs and magazines, including Vogue. She's a Lancome model as well as appearing in ads in print of Lancome Paris Adaptive. She is a long-time campaigner for and a supporter of the renowned African relief organization the African Medical and Research Foundation. Also, she is involved in women's empowerment issues and works with organizations that promote awareness of breast cancer and the End Violence Against Women Campaign.
